Internship2021

What I did

  • Assisted the host teacher with lesson time and daily routines (story time, nap time, meal time, transitions to different locations, morning walks, etc from Nursery 2 to Kindergarten 1.

  • ​Planned and implemented 10 lesson plans for the 6 domains in accordance to the children's developmental abilities.

  • Observed a focus child for 6 months, documenting his growth, created a teaching portfolio for the 6 domains and provided developmental strategies for him.

  • Designed various learning resources for children of different abilities to utilise and learn during lesson time and learning corner time.

  • Took charge and helped with the technological aspects during events and day to day needs.

    • K2 Graduation video filming, editing and zoom ceremony

    • K1 Chinese New Year activity video editing

  • Designed the Language and Literacy learning corner for the Kindergarten 1 children with various difficulty levels and complexity.

  • Assisted to set up the new classroom environment for the new bay area. 

  • Conducted daily visual and temperature checks for children during lunch time and tea break.

  • Conducted morning assembly for the Kindergarten 2, Kindergarten 1 and Nursery 2 children.

  • Communicated with different parents and guardians through face to face communications and letters. 

What i learned

Challenges

  • ​Difficulty in understanding children of special needs (different meltdowns and behaviours).

  • Adapting and changing up details of the lesson plan to better fit the children in the current situation.

  • Creating and designing lesson plans from scratch that would interests the children according to the topic and theme.
