whAT I DID

Assisted the host teacher in a K2 class by helping out with lesson time and daily routines (story time, meal time, sleeping time, transitions to different locations etc.)

I planned and executed a Motor Skills development lesson for K2 children that focused on teaching children how to do overhand pass and skipping
-
I planned and executed a Math lesson and a math corner that taught children number bonds on the number 15
-
I planned and executed an English lesson that taught children on sight words, mainly focusing on who, what, when, where, how and why
-
Assisted other teachers in different class (N2) when there is a need of manpower
-
Engaged with the different children in the centre by teaching them the proper way of interacting with their friends, manners and respect for the things around them
What i learned

Proper ways of communicating with a child when they have done something wrong

Better classroom management

More ways to catch a child's attention during lessons

Proper ways of teaching a child to be more independent

Proper structure of executing a lesson

Different ways to engage with different types of children

Ways to improvise on a lesson to make it more interesting or for the class to understand better
Challenges
-
Handling around 20 children for the first time to implement a lesson plan

Face times where I had to quickly change and adapt my initial lesson plan to the current situation

Unsure of what was the proper step to do in situations like children who would not stop crying
-
Meeting assignment datelines while having practicum
